Incidents can happen in the forest industry, often without warning. When these events are shared, they become valuable lessons that help others recognize similar hazards, strengthen prevention efforts and reduce the chance of repeat occurrences.

BC Forest Safety Council’s (BCFSC) alerts provide practical insights to support workers, supervisors and safety committees in having meaningful safety conversations. These resources are ideal for tailgate meetings, crew talks, and Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee meetings. Alerts help keep workers informed about emerging issues, common risks and opportunities for safer work practices.

What BCFSC Offers:

  • Industry Safety Alerts – These alerts are shared Safety experiences from forest harvesting, transportation and silviculture companies with the intent of preventing similar incidents from occurring to others. Anonymity is maintained to encourage the sharing of information.
  • Alert of the Month – BCFSC’s Safety Alert of the Month is a timely and topical alert that addresses industry safety concerns, often including best practices for managing risk and providing links to additional resources.
  • Manufacturing Crew Talks – These crew talks are topic-specific and designed to keep teams aligned on daily operations, safety expectations and immediate priorities.
  • Manufacturing Safety Alerts – These alerts are notifications that highlight specific hazards, near misses or risks in manufacturing environments. Their purpose is to quickly inform workers, reinforce safe practices and help prevent incidents by raising awareness of current safety concerns.
