FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The City of Fort St. John is endorsing the “Forestry is a Solution” initiative, which is led by the BC Council of Forest Industries. During the July 27 regular council meeting, a letter from BC’s minister of forests, Ravi Parmar, was presented to the council in response to the city’s letter supporting the “Forestry is a Solution” initiative. In her letter, Lilia Hansen, mayor of the City of Fort St. John, said forestry remains a foundation of economic resilience in communities across the province. …She said, “The City of Fort St. John appreciates the Province’s continued work with industry, Indigenous partners and local governments and encourages ongoing collaboration to ensure forestry remains a strategic asset for BC and the communities that depend on it.” In response, Parmar said he valued Fort St. John’s leadership and advocacy during the transition for the forest sector.
