NEW BRUNSWICK — AV Nackawic has temporarily stopped accepting deliveries of wood products due to “sufficient wood inventory to support its near-term operating requirements,” the company said, but did not say when deliveries might restart. According to notices circulated to suppliers and posted by the York, Sunbury and Charlotte (YSC) Forest Products Marketing Board, the Nackawic mill stopped accepting deliveries of roundwood, chips and biomass from all sources effective 5 p.m. last Friday. The mill, a major employer in central and western New Brunswick, manufactures cellulose for textiles from wood pulp. “Reducing incoming deliveries will allow AV Group to bring inventories into balance and manage the timing of cash tied up in the production cycle,” the company said. …Unifor Local 219, which represents workers at the Nackawic mill, said it was caught off guard by the announcement and reached out to the company for an explanation.
