Few countries are shaped so profoundly by geography and distance as Canada… Railways, roads, ports, airports, and transit systems have enabled us to turn that vast geography into opportunity. Forests are an enduring part of that story, supplying the materials that have helped build both our communities and the infrastructure which connects them, while continuing to move through those same networks today. The projects featured in this issue of Wood Design & Building Magazine reflect that spirit of connection in different ways. …they illustrate how wood contributes to the infrastructure, industries, and building systems that connect us across distances both large and small. In a country as vast and sparsely populated as Canada, connection is not something to take for granted. It must be built, maintained, and renewed over time as our nation grows and evolves.
