With cooler temperatures and higher humidity in the forecast over the coming days in the Fraser Canyon, the BC Wildfire Service is hoping to use the more favourable conditions to make progress on containing several out-of-control wildfires. The Brunswick Complex consists of the Ainslie Creek fire, the Brunswick Creek fire and the Anderson Creek fire. Morgan Blois, BCWS fire information officer, said cooler temperatures and higher relative humidity is helping keep fire behaviour less aggressive than over the previous several days. “Because it is still quite dry out there as the wind increases in the afternoon, fire behaviour becomes wind and slope driven and so still potential for growth and for aggressive fire behaviour,” she said. With cooler weather expected to continue over the next several days, Blois said those conditions should help keep fire behaviour at “a more reasonable level.” She said there is still potential for aggressive behaviour in the late afternoons, when temperatures hit their peaks.
