MARTELL, California —Crews have contained a fire at a fiber plant in Amador County that largely wrecked the building. The fire broke out around noon at Ampine in Martell, northwest of Jackson. The Amador County Sheriff’s Office said… “It appears Ampine is a total loss.” All employees have been accounted for and there are no nearby evacuations. There were about 40 people working at the time when the fire started, the Amador Fire Protection District said. The cause of the fire is not known. A spokesperson with the fire department said the mill, which employed 150 people, was about to celebrate its 50th year in business at the beginning of August. …It’s a press board manufacturing.
