A forestry company with rights to log in the Walbran Valley is in court this week requesting an extension to its injunction preventing protesters from blocking roads. Tsawak-qin Forestry Limited Partnership’s injunction is set to expire on Sept. 13, after being granted last September. The injunction prevents anyone with knowledge of the order from impeding access to roads or construction sites in the area bounded by Carmanah Walbran Provincial Park, Cowichan Main Road, Carmanah Main Road, Rosander Main Road, Caycuse Main Road and Gordon River Main Road. Lawyers for the company argued Thursday that an extension is necessary because protesters have made clear their intention to continue blockades until they secure an end to old-growth logging in the area.
