NEWFOUNDLAND — Kruger’s $7-million plan to revitalize its Corner Brook Pulp and Paper mill is considered a positive for many people in the province’s forestry industry, but not to Lorie Philpott, owner of Cottle’s Island Lumber Company in Summerford. …Kruger has said it will modernize harvesting and switch its harvesting operations to supplying the sawmill sector to increase lumber production. …Philpott calls it “false promises,” and sees no benefits for her company in the plan. “So far as I’m concerned, Corner Brook Pulp and Paper is using this to their ability to say that they’re going to work with sawmillers.” …When she contacted Corner Brook Pulp and Paper to again try to address the issue on Monday, she was told they wouldn’t be supplying her with anything because she went public in the media.
