The Government of Canada is committed to providing Canadians with the information they need about climate change and its impact on everyday life. Wildfires in Canada are increasingly large-scale events and threaten the health, safety, and economic stability of Canadians. …Environment and Climate Change Canada’s meteorologists continue to predict weather conditions for spring and summer 2024 that could lead to greater wildfire risks. …This initiative will test and strengthen the capabilities of non-governmental organizations—including Canadian Red Cross, St. John Ambulance, The Salvation Army, and the Search and Rescue Volunteer Association of Canada—to ensure they can mobilize and rapidly deploy emergency responders and relief supplies to support Canadians in times of need. The initiative will focus on the needs of at-risk communities, with an initial focus on British Columbia and Northwest Territories.
