A New Brunswick wood supplier said its customers don’t want to buy products sourced in the US, as the ongoing tariff war between Canada and the U.S. escalates. “There’s been a change in behaviours across Canada,” said Bob Lennon of Bathurst-based Thermalwood Canada. The heat-treated hardwood business occasionally brings in wood from the US, said Lennon. But when the company started including caveats about tariffs in their quotes, about half of its customers started asking where their wood is sourced. They “would say no if it came from the US,” he said. …And because the US has launched new tariffs across the world, Lennon said he’s also hearing the same from European customers. …Fed. Minister Dominic LeBlanc, said one of the main factors in determining the list of products for retaliatory tariffs was the availability of substitutions, in order to avoid driving up the cost of consumer goods in Canada.
