Nippon Paper’s Yatsushiro paper mill in southwestern Japan is currently down following the severe earthquake that struck the region. On Tuesday morning, 28 July, a magnitude 7.1 earthquake hit the Kumamoto prefecture, causing at least 13 fatalities and numerous injuries, according to the latest reports. Workers at the Nippon Paper mill are among those affected. Production is also still suspended at the company’s Longview mill in the US following the chemical accident that occurred in May.
