SALEM, Ore. — 21 firefighters from Oregon are in North Carolina helping to battle wildfires. The firefighters from the Oregon Department of Forestry arrived in North Carolina on Sunday and traveled to Asheville this morning. They traveled to the east coast under the a state-to-state mutual aid agreement. “These agreements help bolster Oregon’s complete and coordinated fire protection system and create a cache of reciprocal resources for all of us to call on when needed,” said Ron Graham, Deputy Chief of Operations for ODF’s Protection Division.
