Warmer and drier weather conditions anticipated over the next few days will result in increased activity across the Brunswick Complex that remains out of control, says BC Wildfire Service (BCWS). In the latest update BCWS noted going into the weekend there is the potential for aggressive fire behaviour due to increased winds and warmer temperatures. A current ridge of high pressure is expected to break down bringing high winds and the potential for thunderstorms on Saturday. There was a positive, however, on the wildfire that is made up of the Brunswick Creek and Ainslie Creek fires. BCWS noted improved visibility is allowing for increased aviation support in areas of difficult terrain that are inaccessible to ground crews. Highway 1 remains closed between Toll Road and Aspen Road for approximately 40 kilometres, as a result of the fire that continues to cause significant debris and rock fall north of the Alexandra Bridge.
