Thompson secures more than $1.5M in grants for Pennsylvania’s timber industry

BELLEFONTE, Pennslyvania – US Rep. Glenn Thompson recently announced $1,552,631 in funding for forestry businesses in Pennsylvania’s 15th Congressional District to support forest management, increase production capabilities, improve processing equipment and technologies, and support our rural economy. Wood Innovation Grants were awarded to the following businesses:

  • Brownlee Lumber of Brookville. Funding to upgrade sawmill production
  • Emporium Hardwoods of Emporium. Funding to install sawmill technologies
  • Forcey Lumber Company of Woodlan. Funding to upgrade veneer processing
  • Gutchess Lumber of Brookville. Funding to install sawmill technologies
  • Northwest Hardwoods of Marienville. Funding to upgrade sawmill equipment
  • Wheeland Lumber of Liberty. Funding to upgrade sawmill equipment

This funding from the U.S. Forest Service is a part of the Wood Innovation Grant Program.
