The US Department of Commerce announced the final combined antidumping and countervailing duty rate of 24.75% in the seventh annual review of unfairly traded Canadian softwood lumber imports into the United States. The review covers lumber imported in calendar year 2024. “The Commerce Department has reaffirmed that Canada continues to trade unfairly in softwood lumber,” stated Zoltan van Heyningen, Executive Director of the US Lumber Coalition. …“Homegrown product supplies the overwhelming majority of lumber consumed in the United States. Canada’s market share has been pushed down to levels not seen since the 1970s. …Continued strong trade policies are what will allow the U.S. industry to continue to regain market share to fully supply our own market, and use U.S. raw materials to produce U.S. lumber to build U.S. homes while supporting over 1.3 million U.S. forestry jobs,” said coalition chair Steve Swanson.
