Rob Kozak

I am pleased to announce that, on September 23, 2026, the UBC Board of Governors approved the extension of the appointment of Dr. Robert Kozak as Dean of the Faculty of Forestry & Environmental Stewardship for a second five-year term. During his first term as Dean, Dr. Kozak successfully led the Faculty through a significant evolution, expanding its name to the Faculty of Forestry & Environmental Stewardship. The new name reflects more completely the present breadth and depth of the Faculty’s research, teaching, education programs and community outreach, including efforts in identifying solutions to pressing global environmental challenges. Dr. Kozak led the transformation of the Faculty’s undergraduate programs, consolidating five degrees under the umbrella of the newly established Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources (NRES) and its six associated majors. …Under his leadership, the Faculty also launched the Bachelor of Indigenous Land Stewardship (BILS), a first-of-its-kind degree co-developed by Indigenous leaders and Faculty of Forestry & Environmental Stewardship scholars.
