INDIANAPOLIS — Forest Economic Advisors’ lumber pricing program received a strong vote of confidence from Do it Best Group, which is recommending its PricePulse wood-products price report as an alternative to Random Lengths, the longstanding lumber pricing service. Russ Kathrein, for Do it Best Group and FEA’s Paul Janke made the case for PricePulse during a presentation at the Do it Best Group Fall Market. “Our prices are transaction based, and they are transparent,” Janke said. “We get our data directly from the producers. We’re not calling the mills and asking them what their prices are.” …In response, Random Lengths parent company Fastmarkets released this statement. …“The industry was ready for a change,” Russ Kathrein said. “Everyone seemed to be waiting for a first mover, and we decided to be the one. We want to be a leader in this space.”
