As the clock ticks down to the new deadline for Canadian and American trade negotiators to come up with deal that would allow Canada to dodge the sweeping new 50% tariffs – Trade Minister Dominic LeBlanc has acknowledged that there’s “more work to do” following a meeting with provincial and territorial premiers. …“The prime minister updated the premiers on where we were in terms of our discussions,” LeBlanc noted. “We have more work to do.” …Carney “underscored the importance of a strong Team Canada approach. …Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston said that Carney “asked premiers to return US alcohol to shelves,” and framed it as a “a specific ask from the prime minister that ‘came directly out of the negotiating table.” …Quebec Premier Christine Fréchette stated that the negotiations “are far from over.” …BC Premier David Eby said “given these latest developments, we are hopeful about the possibility of an agreement.”
