SAINT JOHN, NB — Pabineau First Nation is taking a leadership role in the future of environmental stewardship and project development with the launch of Mother Earth Watcher (MEW), an Indigenous-owned environmental intelligence initiative designed to provide trusted, real-time environmental monitoring for major projects across Canada. “Mother Earth Watcher represents a transformational Nation-building opportunity for Indigenous communities to lead the future of environmental stewardship,” said Pabineau First Nation Chief Terry Richardson. “By combining Indigenous knowledge with advanced Canadian technology, we are creating a model that can be replicated across the country, creating opportunities for partnerships and long-term economic growth while building confidence in responsible development.” Supported by a non-repayable contribution of $714,000 from the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), the project will establish the governance, data stewardship framework, and business model required to bring this innovative Indigenous-led capability to market.
