Mobilier Rustique, a Quebec manufacturer of Eastern white cedar products, is appealing a US Court of International Trade ruling that upheld the Commerce Department’s latest findings in a long-running dispute over countervailing duties on Canadian softwood lumber. According to Trade Law Daily, the Saint-Martin company filed a notice of appeal Sept. 2. Mobilier Rustique was among several Canadian companies that sought an expedited review after receiving the 14.19% “all-others” countervailing duty rate because they were not individually examined in the original investigation. Commerce’s 2019 expedited review calculated a 1.99% rate for Mobilier Rustique and its cross-owned affiliates. The case subsequently resulted in multiple court rulings and Commerce remand determinations. In July, the Court of International Trade sustained Commerce’s latest remand results. Mobilier Rustique is now appealing that ruling. [to access the full story a Trade Law Daily subscription is required]
