SALEM, Ore. — Oregon’s trees are heading into another difficult year as the state braces for a hot, dry summer that forestry officials say is increasingly tied to climate change. Conditions this spring are already similar to those in 2015, a year marked by peak high temperatures and drought. The concerns come after a winter that tied 1934 for the warmest since accurate records were kept beginning in 1896, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. State forestry officials say Oregon’s trees have been experiencing chronic stress from hot droughts for at least a couple of decades.
